Praise and Worship (15 minutes)
Parents: The parent and child scheduled for this week will lead us in singing on Sunday. Please take time to practice the songs together at home, helping your child feel confident and joyful as they prepare to lead.
Prayer and Offering (5 minutes)
Parents: Please encourage your children to bring an offering to church. You may help your child prepare by setting aside a coin for them to bring on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to teach them about giving to God with a thankful heart and trusting Him to provide.
What is Offering?
Offering is when we give something to God to show our love and thankfulness. In church, we often give money as an offering, but we can also give our time, talents, and kindness to God and others.
Why Do We Make an Offering?
To Thank God – Everything we have comes from God! Giving back is a way to say, “Thank You, God!”
To Trust God – When we give, we show that we trust God to take care of us.
To Help Others – Offerings help the church teach about Jesus, help people in need, and share God’s love.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 9:7,
"God loves a cheerful giver!" That means God is happy when we give with a joyful heart!
Prayer for Offering
Dear God, thank You for giving us everything we need. We want to give back to You with joyful hearts. Please use our offering to help others and share Your love. Help us to always trust You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Bible Story (10 minutes): “God is the Most Special Person of All”
Main Idea: The Bible is God's true word that teaches us He is the most special person of all and tells us what He is like.
Memory Verse: "I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me." - Isaiah 46:9b
Props needed:
- Empty, picture frame made out of Bristol board
- Bible
- “Attributes” Handout (OA-1A) (pieces of coloured papers describing characteristics of God such as “love”, “patient”, “good”, etc.)
- (Hold up your empty, picture frame).
- "Good morning, friends! Today we are going to learn about the most special person in the entire world. More special than your friends, your family, even more special than anyone you can think of! I have a picture of Him right here."
- (Show the children the empty frame). "What do you think? Isn't He wonderful? Can you guess who it is? It's God! We can't take a picture of God, but He gave us something very special to help us know what He's like. He gave us His words in the Bible! The words in the Bible are God’s words and God’s words are the truth. When we read in the Bible about who God is and what He is like, we are reading things that are true."
- (Bring out your Bible with the colorful attribute signs sticking out). “Today, we will look inside the Bible and read what God has written about Himself. Let’s see what it says!”
- (Invite children one at a time to pull an Attribute tab from your Bible. For each tab, read the simple Bible verse and explanation from the lesson- older children can read the verse and explanation themselves, or younger children can give to an older one to help them read out loud. As you explain it, attach the sign to your empty photo frame).
· Love- God is Love. (1 John 4:16b): He loves you more than your mommy and daddy!
· Patient- The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love (Psalm 145:8): He is slow to get angry and doesn't have temper tantrums.
· Good- The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made (Psalm 145:9): Everything He does is good, and He is good to you!
· Eternal- Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you have formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everything you are God. (Psalm 90:2): God was here before the world was created and He will be here all the time.
· All-Powerful- Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. (Jeremiah 32:17): He is stronger than anyone and nothing is too hard for God!
· Creator- I am the Lord, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who spread out the earth by myself (Isaiah 44:24b): God made everything all by Himself—the stars, the animals, and even you!
· Everywhere- Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? Declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? Declares the Lord (Jeremiah 23:24): He is with you at home, at church, and everywhere else all at once! God is always with you!
· Righteous- Righteous are you, O Lord, and right are your rules (Psalm 119:137): He is always right and never, ever does anything wrong.
· All-Knowing- …he knows everything (1 John 3:20b): He knows everything! He knows everything about you and what you will be like when you grow up.
· Compassionate- As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows are frame, he remembers we are dust. (Psalm 103:13-14): God knows when we need help and cares when we feel scared or lonely.
· Faithful- Know therefore that the Lord you God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generation (Deuteronomy 7:9): He always keeps His promises. When God says He will do something, He will do it!
· Happy- Our God is in the heavens; he does all that he pleases (Psalm 115:3): God is always happy being God because He is so perfect and wonderful! He is the one and only true God.
- "Look at all these amazing things the Bible tells us about God! No one else is as special and wonderful as He is. The Bible is filled with words that describe how wonderful God is.”
Memory verse (5 minutes)
- “Our memory verse today comes from Isaiah 46:9b: 'I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.' “
- “This verse is saying God is so perfect and special, only He can make us truly happy. God wants you to see and understand how wonderful He is so that you will love Him as much as He loves you. God wants to be our friend, our Lord, and Saviour!”
- “To help us remember this Bible verse, we can use some actions:”

- God, (God in American sign language: with your right hand, make a flat, open-handed shape and bring it to your forehead, then make a downward arc motion towards your chest- the arc movement signifies God’s presence or reign from above)
- and there is no other; (shake head and wag index finger sideways)

- and there is none like me. (for each hand, curve the fingers and thumb to form an “O” so there are two “O”s, move the two “O”s outwards)
- (Lead the kids in repeating the verse slowly with hand motions.)
- (Repeat the verse with only hand motions, whispering, with eyes closed, etc.)
- “What are some things we can do this week to show God how special He is?” (take suggestions from children. Ideas can include: obey God, sing songs to God, tell God how great He is when we pray, etc.)
Activity (5 minutes)
Seek and Find the Attributes of God
- Supplies: Attributes Handout (OA-1A) cut into individual words (make a duplicate copy), tape, photo frame from Bible story
- Preparation: Before class, tape the Attribute tabs in different areas around the room
- Activity: Tell children you have hidden the Attributes of God around the room. When you give the signal, they can start to look for them (depending on the number of children, it might be more orderly to call them one at a time to look). When they find an Attribute, invite them to stick it to the corresponding Attribute in the picture frame. Review the Attribute as they are found.
- Wrap up: “What are some things we can do this week to show God how special He is?” (take suggestions from children. Ideas can include: obey God, sing songs to God, tell God how great He is when we pray, etc.)

"Dear God, thank You for giving us the Bible so we can learn who you are and what you are like. You are perfect and the most special person of all. Thank you for loving us. Help us remember there is no one else like you, God. Amen.”
