Volunteer Software Developer Intern

Time Commitment: 2–4 hours/week (flexible)

Duration: 3–6 months (can be extended)

Overview:

We’re looking for a high school student with a passion for technology and a heart to serve. As a volunteer Software Developer Intern, you’ll work under the mentorship of an experienced software architect to build digital tools that support church ministries—and learn how to work with modern technologies, including AI and large language models (LLMs). This is a learning-focused role—no prior experience required, just curiosity and commitment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Help develop or improve simple web tools or internal systems for ministry use (e.g. event registration, content updates, data entry tools).

  • Assist with tasks like coding, testing, debugging, or documentation.

  • Learn to use modern software tools (e.g. GitHub, HTML/CSS/JS, maybe a little Python or React).

  • Explore how large language models (like ChatGPT) can be integrated into real tools (e.g., for content summarization, scripture Q&A, or scheduling help).
  • Assist with coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Learn LLM usage through guided mini-projects.
  • Attend regular check-ins (in person or online) with your mentor to set goals and track progress.
